Orgo or Organic? The Message is on the Label...

There have been questions concerning the type of soap we should use on our skin. You are using soap all over your body, daily- I invite you, if you have not started, to take your choice of soap seriously.

Your skin cells negotiate with the sun, it does the talking for us: broadcasting, concealing- simultaneously protecting and betraying. Our skin needs proper nourishment and protection and the soap we use is the first step we can take toward mindfully taking care of our skin.

Saponifying oil or fat to make soap is a pretty simple chemical reaction. The base oils used to make soap is a fat, or a “triglyceride” the alkali usually used in sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. The former is used when making bar soaps, the latter liquids. The entire saponification process is a one step reaction!

The next time you find yourself in the beauty section looking for the soap of your dreams, I invite you to READ THE LABEL.

Certain chemicals used in commercialized soap are extremely harmful for your skin. Parabens and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate are chemicals that have been known to act as a skin irritant and “strip away natural oils from the skin.” So, if you are reading the ingredient label and something looks unfamiliar to you, such as pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, it may be best to do some more research!

Tiossan is a luxury, all natural artisan skincare brand inspired by ancient medicinal secrets of the traditional Sufi healers of Senegal.

What I truly appreciate from this brand is their mission promoting and advancing positive social and entrepreneurial change for women and men in Senegal and Africa. and their certified organic personal care products.

So “Orgo” or Organic? The truth is on the Label friends! (Hopefully)
