Advocates for Cardiovascular Health

At the heart of every emerging economy and community lies the health of the individual. Locally and internationally, consumers are being exposed to a variety of nutritional, physical and educational options for optimal health and well being. Additionally, there are also ubiquitous advertisements on food and meal options that may lead to an imbalance in the daily intake of vital nutrients growing bodies and minds need to function.


Advocates Yewande Oguntoyinbo support the growing opportunity for furthering the education and teaching of cardiovascular disease which is still considered a top 10 preventable causes of death in middle and low income countries.


Dr Yewande Alade-Oguntoyinbo is a Physician with interests in Public and Community Health, Disparities and Clinical Research. She has an MBBS/MD from University of Ilorin, Nigeria and an MPH in Public and Community Health from the University of Maryland, College Park as well as training in Clinical Research Bioethics at the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.


She worked and trained at the (NIH) National Institutes of Health Bethesda Maryland and NIH /Glaxo Smith Kline Vaccine Clinical Trial Program. She has served as a Clinical Health Coach for the SUPER Coach Program at University Hospitals, Cleveland. A program in which Motivational Interviewing is used to encourage Super Utilizer, Rapid Cycling patients who are often in and out of Hospital due to poor health and Lifestyle choices to consider, initiate and sustain their own behavior change for more positive outcomes.  She is a Certified Health Education Specialist and an accomplished communicator, clinician, and researcher. She has a deep interest in Health Disparities across population groups and the paucity of healthcare systems in developing countries especially her home country of Nigeria.

Yewande is a member of several organizations including the APHA (American Public health Association), (SOCRA)Society of Clinical research Associates and (ACRP/APPI)Association of Clinical Research Professionals /Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators


These events took place at GAAT International School, Oakland International High School and Urban Girls Secondary School in Abuja and Enugu respectively. It provided an opportunity for members to contribute to educating a group of vibrant minds of elementary (primary), middle and high school students.
